A Cappella Choir To Present Spring Concert April 1
by Sean Flynt
Samford's A Cappella Choir will present its annual Spring Concert Friday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Hodges Chapel. The concert will take the form of a worship service and emphasize themes of prayer and praise through composed works, hymns and prayers.
The concert will include Henry Purcell's "Hear My Prayer, O Lord," a new setting of Albert Malotte's "The Lord's Prayer" and works by Gustav Holst, Georgy Sviridov, and Sándor Szokolay.
The choir, founded 70 years ago in the St. Olaf tradition, will close the concert with a tribute to St. Olaf with its signature piece, "Beautiful Savior," arranged by F. Melius Christiansen. Former members of the A Cappella choir will join the current choir in a performance of the work.
The concert is free-of-charge and open to the public.
