While not everyone is at the beginning of their career, every young professional can benefit from a mentor guiding them through their career journey. That’s why the Samford University Alumni Association is launching the Samford Alumni Mentorship program.

This program is under the umbrella of the Samford Professional Network which has provided professional development and networking opportunities, specifically through its speaker series, for alumni in the past few years.

The vision of the Samford Alumni Mentorship Program is to serve as a national benefit for Samford University alumni and works to increase alumni engagement with one another and Samford University. The goal is to is to provide professional development through mentees learning from mentors and mentors helping mentees launch and further their careers.

Casey Ramey, executive director of alumni and philanthropic engagement, is optimistic about how this new initiative will serve Samford alumni. “The Samford University Alumni Association is looking forward to adding the Samford Alumni Mentorship Program as an alumni benefit during the 2023-24 year,” said Ramey. “We hope this program will provide professional and personal growth for alumni mentors and mentees as well as increase alumni engagement throughout the association.”

These mentorship partnerships between alumni will provide personalized guidance from professionals who are established in their fields and committed to pouring into their younger mentees. This unique benefit of the Samford University Alumni Association is an extension of the Samford mission to nurture persons in their development of intellect, creativity, faith and personhood.

During this inaugural year, the program will launch in three regional markets—Birmingham, Alabama, Atlanta, Georgia, and Nashville, Tennessee—with a goal to launch nationally in the 2024-25 academic year.
