Prosecution, Defense of Sexual Offenders Topic At Cumberland Forum Thursday

Attorneys from both sides of the topic will discuss "Prosecution and Defense of Sexual Offenders" at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law Thursday, Nov. 15.

The program, presented by Cumberland's Cordell Hull Speakers Forum and Trial Advocacy Board, will be at 11 a.m. in the Robinson Hall moot courtroom.

Speakers are Alabama assistant attorney general Joshua Bearden and criminal defense attorney John Lentine.

Bearden is responsible for the prosecution of violent sexual offenses, primarily the sexual abuse and exploitation of children. He is also the Attorney General's special advisor on criminal sex offenders and the Community Notification Act.

Lentine is a partner in the Birmingham law firm of Sheffield, Sheffield and Lentine, P.C. He practices criminal defense work on the trial and appellate levels throughout Alabama, and in a variety of Federal trial and appellate courts.

Bearden and Lentine are both Cumberland graduates.
