Instrumentalists Present March 6 Concert

Scores of Samford University instrumental musicians will take to the stage Thursday, March 6, for the Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Band concert. The event will be at 7:30 p.m. in Brock Recital Hall.

The 43-member Symphonic Band will present Karl King's "Hosts of Freedom March," Percy Aldridge Grainger's "Ye Banks and Braes O'Bonnie Doon," Julie Giroux-West's "Mystery on Mena Mountain," and Malcolm Arnold's "Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo."

The 42-member Wind Ensemble will present Paul Hindemith's "March from Symphonic Metamorphosis" and "Symphony in B-flat, Mvt. III," Grainger's "Molly on the Shore," Arnold's "Tam O'Shanter," and John Philip Sousa's "Semper Fidelis."

Dr. James Smisek, Samford director of bands, conducts both performing groups. The public is invited to the concert free of charge.
