Posted by Mary Wimberley on 2013-01-25

Samford University students will begin spring semester classes Monday, Jan. 28.  School officials expect an enrollment of more than 4,600. Dr. J. Brad Creed, Samford provost and executive vice president, will address the semester-opening convocation Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. in Wright Center.

The convocation program will include presentation of the George Macon teaching award and the Jennings B. Marshall faculty service award.

Alabama Baptist State Convention president John H. Killian will speak at the semester-opening convocation for Samford's Beeson Divinity School Tuesday at 11 a.m. in A. Gerow Hodges Chapel. Dr. Killian, pastor of Maytown Baptist Church in Mulga, Ala.,  was elected to the state denominational post in November.

During the spring semester, Beeson faculty and students will observe the 25th anniversary of the founding of the divinity school.

Students in Samford's Cumberland School of Law and McWhorter School of Pharmacy began spring term classes earlier in January.
