Samford's Dean Timothy George Named to Pew Forum

Posted by Mary Wimberley on 2001-08-03

Dr. Timothy F. George, dean of Samford University's Beeson Divinity School, has been selected to serve on the advisory board of the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

The Forum, a new project supported by the Pew Charitable Trusts, seeks to promote a deeper understanding of how religion shapes American ideas and institutions. Its purpose is to bridge the worlds of scholarship, public policy and journalism to function as both a clearinghouse and a town hall.

Upcoming Forum events include an examination of President George W. Bush's proposal regarding charity tax credits and a winter conference on religious perspectives of the death penalty.

Dr. George has been dean of Beeson Divinity School since it was established in 1988.
