Samford Wins National Communication Awards
Samford University’s office of marketing and communication recently won several awards in two national competitions.
In the Baptist Communicators Association’s annual Wilbur C. Fields Awards, Samford won:
First place, PSA/commercial category for the Samford commercial that aired during athletics broadcasts during the 2010-11 seasons. Nathan Troost, video producer/editor, produced the ad.
First place, video newsmagazine category, for “The Samford Chronicle.” Troost is the director and Philip Poole, executive director of university marketing and communication, is the producer for the monthly program.
Second place, website development, for the office of admission website designed by Carissa Bradley, web designer, and launched in 2010.
In the annual DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards sponsored by the Religion Communicators Council, Samford received:
Award of Excellence, national magazine category, for Seasons, the university’s quarterly news publication. William A. Nunnelley serves as editor of Seasons, and all members of the news and information and creative services teams were recognized with this award.
Award of Excellence, brochure category, for a campus visit brochure that was part of the undergraduate student recruitment marketing plan for 2010-11. Honored were Stephanie Sides, graphics designer; Laine Williams, assistant director of creative services; and Janica York Carter, director of creative services.
BCA is a national professional organization of about 200 communicators at the local, state and national levels. RCC is a national inter-faith professional organization of about 500 communicators at all levels.
