Chicago Spring Break Trip

Spring Break info meeting Tuesday, November 12, after Shiloh (8:30 to 9pm) in Burns 302.

“Going to Chicago with UM was an amazing experience for me because it gave me an opportunity to see the work God is doing in different neighborhoods of the country. It was also great to develop new friendships and fellowships with the other students who also went on the trip. I would definitely recommend the trip to any student who wants to create new bonds and develop their relationship with the Lord.” –Kyle DeMarco

“The Chicago trip burst my Samford bubble. It opened my eyes and showed me what my tunnel vision had prevented me from seeing in this world. Once I was truly aware of the hardships that my brothers and sisters in Christ face every day, there was no way that I couldn't get involved in helping them. "Love thy neighbor" took a new meaning for me after Chicago 2013.” –Christina Schmitt

Christian Community Development Association

University Ministries and Community Involvement are partnered with CCDA. Samford University is an Academic Chapter of CCDA. This means we are a partner with the organization and have small groups that meet twice a month to discuss different concepts on Jesus’ calling for us to, “love our neighbors as ourselves.” Students have an opportunity to learn from national leaders and practitioners, dive deeper into Christian Community Development philosophy and discover how to live out these concepts.

What is CCDA?

The Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) is a network of Christians committed to seeing people and communities holistically restored. We believe that God wants to restore us not only to right relationship with Himself but also with our own true selves, our families and our communities. Not just spiritually, but emotionally, physically, economically, and socially. Not by offering mercy alone, but by undergirding mercy with justice.

CCDA Conference: The 2014 National CCDA Conference will be help in Raleigh, NC, September 24th- 27th

“CCDA was a beautiful glimpse of the future kingdom. One where all people, all cultures, and all backgrounds had a seat at the Table. I was challenged and completely humbled to worship alongside some of the true heroes of the faith- people living out a Gospel that puts the poor and the marginalized at the center of ministry.” –Hanna Weaver
