From the SGA President
Students of Samford University,
On behalf of the Student Government Association, I personally extend my sincerest salutations to this exciting year at Samford. Whether you are an incoming freshman or a fifth year senior, I am unable to imagine a more exhilarating or opportune time to be a member of the student body.
You might notice several changes that came to fruition this past summer. Sodexo, Samford’s new dining service provider, spearheaded a new era of dining on campus. I have faith that this company will excel in providing our community with fresh alternatives and exciting transformations to fuel our active lives.
With our campus having undergone numerous alterations, I challenge each of you to take a moment and look inward. Be introspective. Realize what motivates you and how you can better yourself and the community in which you belong. Gail Sheehy, a prominent American author, journalist, and lecturer once wrote, “If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we aren't really living.” Let’s make a collaborative effort to not shy away from change, but rather celebrate it.
The Student Government Association exists to aid you. We want to see that your ideas for change come to fulfillment. While promoting student interest in the many decision-making processes at Samford University, the SGA aims to cultivate and maintain leadership among students. If there is any way in which I, or the members of the Student Executive Board, can help you, please reach out to us. We are here for you. We are here to better Samford. We are here to better Birmingham.
Wishing you a most successful year,
McDavid A. Maddox
