Our Story

As our student-athletes prepare to play today (3:00 p.m. CST, live via television on SportSouth, radio on WVSU 91.1 FM, and the Internet at www.samford.edu/wvsu) in the final game of the women's basketball championship for the Southern Conference, here is a recent message from Pam London, the mother of SoCon Player of the Year, Emily London:

"Em has had a great experience at Samford, both in basketball and in the classroom. Ron and I could not have asked that her college days be any better. Being seven hours away from her was quite an adjustment; however, Coach Morris and the Samford family made it tolerable because we felt that she was being taken care of. Emily had other opportunities, but I am so thankful that Mike Morris was the one to coach her for four years. I have the highest regard for him as a man, a coach, and as a role model. If I could talk to the parents of potential recruits, he would get them all! He takes a personal interest in all of his players, he disciplines with love, and he teaches them to be responsible adults! We will continue to support Samford because we feel that we are a part of that family and women's basketball will always be a priority."

The world is better because of Samford's nurturing environment.
