Bachelor of Science in Nursing Admission Criteria
Bachelor of Science in Nursing applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Admission to Samford University
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Minimum composite ACT score of 21 or a minimum composite SAT score of 1000, no more than 5 years old.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing transfer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Admission to Samford University
- Minimum cumulative 2.7 and a minimum ACT score of 21 or minimum SAT score of 1000, no more than 5 years old.
- No ACT/SAT score is required for Transfer applicants with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on at least 24 credits.
Second Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale on all college work attempted
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale on required science courses (chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and microbiology)
- Minimum grade of 2.0 on each general education course required for the nursing curriculum.
- No ACT or SAT scores are required
- International applicants or American citizens who learned English as a second language must score at least 550 (paper), 213 (computer) or 80 (internet) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Accelerated Second Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Admission to Samford University
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale in courses required for prior bachelor and/or graduate degree(s)
- Have prerequisite courses completed by the start date of the Accelerated 2nd Degree program with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in all required science courses (chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and microbiology)
- Using the NursingCAS application process, submit three letters of recommendation speaking to the applicant’s ability to successfully complete rigorous academic expectations.
- Be interviewed by the School of Nursing Faculty.
- Minimum grade of 2.0 on each general education course required for the nursing curriculum.
