Welcome to the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing (IVMSON). Established in 1922, IVMSON celebrates 90 years as a leader in nursing education, practice and service excellence. The school's history is one of tradition founded on the principles and philosophy of the late Ida V. Moffett. More than 5,000 nurses have graduated from the school and are practicing not only in Alabama, but also throughout the United States and the world. Message from the Dean
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing are prepared to use knowledge, critical thinking skills, and practice skills learned from nursing and liberal arts to provide professional nursing care in a variety of clinical settings.
Nurse Anesthesia
The Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing Nurse Anesthesia Program offers a 28 month full-time course of study leading to a Master of Science in Nursing degree. Applicants for the MSN program must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited program.
Master's of Science in Nursing
The Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing offers flexible, innovative tracks in a program leading to a master of science in nursing degree in an online setting. Graduates are prepared to practice in an advanced role to meet and/or manage health care needs of families across the life span.
Doctor of Nursing Practice
The DNP program will prepare clinicians (nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, and clinical nurse specialists) and nurse administrators for leadership roles, evidence based practice, and to fully implement the emerging science and practice innovations in health care.
