Samford's Metro Programs Student, Faculty Member Receive Honors

Mary Kathryn Shaw of Homewood received the James L. Treadway Award during recent awards ceremonies for students enrolled in Samford University's Metro Programs.

The Treadway award recognizes the outstanding student in the evening program for adult students. Candidates for the award must have a B or better grade average, be employed fulltime while pursuing their degree, and show a commitment to academic excellence.

Shaw will receive a bachelor of general studies degree in administrative/community services and an American Bar Association legal assistant certificate this month. She is a paralegal with a Birmingham law firm.

Joey Duke of Riverchase received the Joe O. Lewis Award, given annually to an outstanding Metro Programs faculty member. A Birmingham attorney, Duke teaches courses required for the ABA legal assistant certificate.
