Celebrated Pianist John Kimura Parker to Perform at Samford Feb. 14

The Davis Architects Guest Artists Series and the Morris Piano Competition will present celebrated pianist Jon Kimura Parker Thursday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Samford University’s Brock Recital Hall.
Parker has given command performances for Queen Elizabeth II, the United States Supreme Court and the Prime Ministers of Canada and Japan. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada, his native country’s highest civilian honor.
Parker’s Samford performance will include "Doing Rite by Stravinsky" (Stravinsky/Parker) and Mussorgsky’s "Pictures at an Exhibition."
In addition to his evening performance, Parker will serve as a judge in the 2013 Morris Piano Competition at Samford, and will present a free public master class Feb. 15 at 2:30 p.m. in Brock Recital Hall.
