Economist to Open 'Freedom Project' Lectures at Samford
Economist James Gwartney, professor at Florida State University, will inaugurate the Templeton Foundation/Freedom Project Lecture Series at Samford University Monday, March 5. He will speak on the topic "Freedom and Prosperity" at 12 noon in Robinson law building. The public is invited free of charge.
Gwartney is former chief economist, Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress, and senior co-author of the annual report Economic Freedom of the World.
The lecture series is made possible through a Freedom Project grant received by Samford law professor Michael DeBow and religion professor Dennis Sansom from the Atlas Economic Research Foundation and the John Templeton Foundation. The guest lecturers are part of an interdisciplinary course on freedom, prosperity and faith, taught by DeBow and Sansom this spring.
