Posted by Mary Wimberley on 2003-03-13

The Samford University Interfraternity Council earned three top regional awards at the recent Southeastern Interfraternity Conference held in Atlanta, Ga.

The Samford IFC received the Outstanding Public Service Award for its work at Putnam Middle School, the Publications Award for its rush guide and the Education Programming Award for its new member anti-hazing convocation.

Last fall, the students assisted Putnam Middle School with a festival which raised $2,000 for the school.

IFC representatives from more than 125 schools in 10 states attended the southeastern conference.

Hiram Centeno, a sophomore from Maitland, Fla., is Samford IFC president. The Samford IFC represents 304 men who are members of the school's seven fraternities.
