Samford's 'Christfest' Will Examine Ministry and the Arts

Samford University's Beeson Divinity School will host "Christfest: A Conference on Ministry and the Arts," Oct. 18-20.

The program will examine the impact of the arts throughout Christian history and explore the connection between ministry and the arts in the life of the church today.

Speakers include national radio commentator and writer Frederica Mathewes-Green; spiritual theology professor, pastor and poet Eugene Peterson; and Beeson professor, artist and novelist Calvin Miller.

The opening session will be Monday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. Interactive workshops, roundtable discussions and lectures are scheduled throughout each day, with evening sessions on Monday and Tuesday.

Singer-songwriter Allen Levi will present a concert Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m.

The closing plenary session will be Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m.
