by Brad Radice
Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law will conclude its first-year law student orientation Friday, August 19, 2011, with the law school’s annual First-Year Service Project. This service project is organized by Cassandra Adams, director of the Cumberland Community Mediation Center and Public Interest Project. This service project is in conjunction with Hands On Birmingham, whose mission is “to connect people with organized and meaningful volunteer opportunities to improve their community.”
This year, law school members from across the student body, administration, faculty and staff will set out in their red volunteer t-shirts to six service projects at the following Birmingham organizations, Christian Service Mission, Southern Environmental Center, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Birmingham, Ronald McDonald House, and the Glenwood Autism and Behavioral Health Center.
