Incoming Freshmen Enjoy Rafting in Samford Summer Adventure
Twenty-five incoming Samford University freshmen are getting to know some of their new classmates while enjoying the rapids of North Carolina’s Ocoee River this week. They’re taking part in a Samford Summer Adventure June 22-24 in Bryson City, N.C.
“This is an optional experience that helps prepare incoming students for the transition to the Samford community,” said Elizabeth Primm, Samford’s associate director of admission. “They spend time getting to know future classmates while expanding their leadership skills and enjoying outdoor recreation activities.”
The program is available on a first-come, first served basis to about 25 students twice each summer. The students are accompanied by Molly McGuire, Samford’s coordinator of new student orientation and special programs, and a team of Samford student orientation leaders.
The second 2011 Samford Summer Adventure is scheduled for July 11-13 in Bryson City.
