Samford Summer Classes Begin June 1

Posted by Mary Wimberley on 2011-05-25

Samford University will begin summer classes on Wednesday, June 1.  About 1,188 students are expected for the first summer term. A second summer term will begin on July 6.

Some Samford students will do their summer study at locales far from the familiar campus.  About 39 undergraduate and Beeson School of Divinity students will be based at Samford’s residential study centre in London, England.  Another 36 students will study Spanish language and culture in Spain, where most will split the summer between the cities of Madrid and Salamanca, with a tour of southern Spain in between.

Other students will expand their horizons with studies in Scotland, Germany, Ecuador, Peru, France, Israel, South Africa, Guatemala, Italy and Jordan, and in an “at sea” program that involves studying at various foreign ports.

New Samford students anticipating fall enrollment will participate in one of four orientation sessions during June, or in another in August.

Samford’s summer schedule also includes many conferences and workshops, children’s camps in theatre, music and sports, and a debate institute for high school students. Genealogists from around the nation will attend Samford’s popular Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research June 12-17.
