Samford interior design student Kerra Killingsworth's rug design was a top 10 finalist in a nationwide competition sponsored by Odegard Rugs. Her design, a modern twist on a traditional chain link pattern, was designated to receive a juror's award for special mention.

The competition involved 931 submissions from students in 90 schools in 37 states and five foreign nations.

Killingsworth, a rising senior from Fort Walton Beach, Fla., will attend the Odegard Awards ceremony at the New York School of Interior Design in New York City on June 28.
