New Pharmacy Students To Receive White Coats October 8
Members of the newest class at Samford University’s McWhorter School of
Pharmacy will participate in the traditional White Coat ceremony Friday,
Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. at Shades Mountain Baptist Church.
The 128-member class, which includes students from 15 states, will take
the pledge to the American Pharmaceutical Association’s code of
professionalism and receive white coats. Each student will be assisted
by a personally-selected professional mentor.
The class is beginning a four-year professional curriculum that leads to
a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The students completed two or more years
of undergraduate coursework prior to entering pharmacy school.
The ceremony will be led by pharmacy dean Dr. Charles D. Sands III and
professors Dr. Amy Broeseker, Dr. Erica Cretton-Scott, Dr. Roger Lander
and Dr. Ami Teague. Guest speaker will be 2007 McWhorter pharmacy
graduate Dr. Marsha Gilbreath, who practices at HealthSouth Lakeshore
Rehabilitation Hospital in Birmingham.
A reception will follow in Ingalls Hall on the Samford campus.
