The Samford University office of student affairs and enrollment management includes three new staff members.

They are: Renie Moss, assistant dean for campus life; Janna Pennington, director of student leadership and programming; and Lacey Simpson, director of events. The three assumed their Samford duties during the summer.

Moss oversees campus recreation, Greek life, student government, community service and student programming. She coordinates those areas in relation to planning, leadership, educational programming and collaboration with the campus, according to Dr. Phil Kimrey, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a master’s from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  She has held student life related posts at Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College in Danville, Ky., and Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga.

Pennington directly advises the Student Government Association, particularly in the areas of programming, elections and campus leadership. She also provides oversight to processes, guidelines and activities planned by the SGA.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Furman University and a master’s from the University of Georgia.  Prior to joining the Samford staff, she most recently was service-learning coordinator in the office of student leadership and civic engagement at Georgia Southern University.

Simpson directly plans events for the division and assists with student groups that sponsor programs and activities, including Welcome Back and Family Weekend. She is the on-campus resource for student affairs events.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University. Her previous experience in special events includes work at the University of Alabama, the city of Alabaster, and Birmingham’s McWane Science Center.
