Samford University's historic, record-setting baseball season came to an end Sunday (June 3) with a 5-2 loss to Florida State University in the NCAA baseball tournament. FSU moves on to host a Super Regional next weekend after eliminating Southern Conference champion Samford.

The loss ended the best season in history for the baseball Bulldogs, including a record 41 wins, the university's first-ever conference baseball championship and first-ever NCAA tournament appearance, two wins over Southeastern Conference champion Mississippi State in the NCAA tournament, regular season wins over nationally-ranked Florida and Oklahoma, the nation's leading home run hitter and several postseason honors for team members. The conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance garnered national exposure for the team and the university.
