Many of Alabama's top teachers, counselors and administrators are expected to attend the Samford Summer Institute for Teaching Excellence (SSITE) July 22-25. The 200 participating teachers represent public and private schools in 21 Alabama counties, as well as schools in Florida and Tennessee.

The four-day program is sponsored by Samford University's Orlean Bullard Beeson School of Education and Professional Studies.

Session leaders and topics include author and educator Dr. Robert Delisle, "problem-based learning in the classroom"; literacy intervention specialist Susan Barnett, "student led conferencing"; human behavior expert and counselor Joyce Divinyi, "good kids, difficult behaviors"; and business/education consultant Dr. Ann Phillips, "who moved my cheese?".

Breakout session topics include school law, autism spectrum disorder, children's literature, children with disabilities and stress management for educators.

All sessions will be held at the Wynfrey Hotel.
