Posted on 2001-04-10 by William Nunnelley (205) 726-2800

Samford University President Thomas E. Corts and his five siblings, each leaders in their own right, will present a free public forum on faith and leadership at Samford April 23-24.

Corts, his four brothers and their sister will speak Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in Samford's Divinity Chapel, sharing thoughts on different aspects of leadership. They will also speak Tuesday, April 24, at Beeson Divinity School's weekly chapel service at 11 a.m.

Both programs are open to the public.

John Corts is president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in Minneapolis, Minn. Paul Corts is president of Palm Beach Atlantic College in West Palm Beach, Fla., and past president of the American Association of Presidents of Independent Colleges and Universities. Mark Corts is pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, N.C., and former president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. David Corts is associate pastor of Christ's Church of the Valley in Phoenix, Ariz., and past president of the North American Christian Association. Naomi Corts White is an eighth-grade science teacher in East Brunswick, N.J., who was selected one of the top 100 public school teachers in the state.

The event grew out of an invitation to the Corts siblings by Beeson Divinity School professor Charles Carter to speak to his pastoral leadership class. The siblings will speak to the class on Tuesday afternoon, April 24.

Among the topics to be discussed are "What Makes a Leader?," "The Spiritual Capacity of the Leader," "The Leader as Visionary" and "Attributes and Characteristics of the Effective Leader."
