Samford University's School of Business will observe Entrepreneurial Emphasis Week March 13-15 with lectures by retailer Marsha Sprayberry of Tuscaloosa and banker/investor Jimmy Taylor of Birmingham. The public is invited to the lectures.
Sprayberry, founder of Krackeroos clothing stores for adults and children, will speak Tuesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. in Reid Chapel. Her talk will focus on the start-up of her corporation and how her faith relates to her business.
Krackeroos consists of two retail stores in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, a catalog division, manufacturing facility, distribution center, statewide home show division, Camperoos Fun Paks, Babyroos, a Web site and Krackeroos Kids.
Taylor, chairman, CEO and director of The Bank Corporation, a publicly traded bank holding company with assets of over $1 billion, will speak Thursday, March 15, at 10 a.m. in Dwight Beeson Hall auditorium. Parent company of The Bank, The Bank Corporation has 23 locations throughout Alabama and six in Florida.
He received the 2000 Jemison Award presented by The Venture Club of Birmingham in recognition of the year's outstanding new business venture.
