Syndicated columnist Mike McManus, whose "Ethics &
Religion" column appears in dozens of newspapers around the nation, will
speak during Fall Commencement at Samford University Saturday, Dec. 14.
About 250 graduates will receive diplomas during 10 a.m. ceremonies in Wright
Center at Samford. Graduates and their families will be guests of honor at a
reception immediately following Commencement in Beeson University Center.
McManus has written his "Ethics & Religion" column for 22 years.
The veteran newspaperman has covered Latin America and Washington for "Time"
magazine, written a column called "The Northern Perspective" for 70
newspapers during 1977-88, and written several books.
He is author of "Marriage Savers: Helping Your Friends and Family Avoid
Divorce" and other books on marriage. Six years ago, he and his wife, Harriet,
founded a nonprofit corporation called Marriage Savers with a goal of pushing
down America's divorce rate.
He has appeared on MSNBC, Fox, BBC, CBC, Oprah, the O'Reilly Factor and been
quoted in "Time," "U.S. News & World Report," "Newsweek"
and many others.
McManus is a 1963 graduate of Duke University.
