Samford University's Metro College evening program begins fall term I classes Monday, Aug. 5. Registration is underway now.

For the first time this fall, Metro College courses are offered leading to a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The GIS program provides foundation experience in the mapping sciences for individuals interested in GIS careers, which range from urban and regional planning to natural resource management.

The GIS certificate program is designed to be completed in one year. Completion of the program can also lead to a bachelors' degree in natural and environmental sciences or liberal studies. A GIS certificate can also add professional value to an existing bachelor's or graduate degree.

Metro College classes are held in the evenings. There is still time to complete the admission process for the first fall term. For information, call 726-2898.
