A conference to discuss the future of Alabama constitutional reform will be held at Samford University Friday (NOV. 14).

“No to the Cynics: Let’s Take Back State Government,” is the theme of the program, set for 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the moot courtroom of Robinson law building. The public is invited.

The program is sponsored by Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform (ACCR), Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA) and the State Constitutional Law Project at Samford’s Cumberland School of Law.

Presenters will focus on constitutional reform issues such as home rule, economic development, deletion of archaic language, implementation of recent legislation, and the future of the reform effort.

Samford president Thomas E. Corts will present the keynote speech at 9 a.m. Participants include constitutional reform project leaders Jim Bennett, Gov. Albert Brewer, Barbara Larson, Sid McAnnally, Howard Walthall, Jim Williams and others. Congressman Artur Davis will present concluding remarks.
