Samford University's Department of English will host poet Li-Young Lee Monday at 7 p.m. in Beeson Divinity Hall North 302. The public is invited to the reading, which will be followed by a question and answer session with the poet.

Lee will read from his most recent book of poetry, Book of My Nights, and possibly several of his newest, unpublished works.

Lee's other books include Rose and City in Which I Love You, which was the 1990 Lamont Poetry Selection of the Academy of American Poets. Lee, who was born in Indonesia of Chinese parents, lives in Chicago, Ill.

Monday's presentation is part of the Visiting Writers Series sponsored by the Birmingham Area Consortium of Higher Education. Lee's reading is the first of three scheduled for this academic year. Other visiting writers include fiction writer George Singleton on November 14 and poet Rebecca Brown on Feb. 27, 2006.
