Drew began studying the violin at age seven, and soon discovered his passion for music. Having played in the Huntsville Youth Orchestra throughout high school, he now performs with the Samford Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, he has performed works such as Shostakovich’s eighth string quartet, Haydn’s opus 33 no. 3, and R. Schumann’s Romances for Violin and Piano with Samford musicians in seminar and other settings. Also, he is part of a pop string quartet in Huntsville. Drew plans to become a music educator, and recognizes the importance of music for children. He spent spring 2013 at the Valley Conservatory in Huntsville assisting with after-school piano programs at Hampton Cove Elementary School, and currently teaches violin and group piano at Scrollworks, a Birmingham music school and youth orchestra modeled on El Sistema.
