Laura Bean, a National Merit Scholar, was also a valedictorian of her class. Her senior year, she received the "Most Outstanding" superlative and served as co-captain of the varsity cross country team. In addition, she held leadership roles as Student Council Class Treasurer, President of the Leadership Board for her youth group, and an officer of Key Club. In 2011, she started a non-profit with five friends called Sustaining a Village Everyday, which reached its goal of raising $25,000 for a malnourished village in Haiti, and continues to raise funds this year as well. She was also awarded the President's Volunteer Service Award for her community service efforts.
