Biographical Information
Hayden was the first student in his high school's history toearn the distinction of National Merit Finalist. As a freshman, Hayden received the "Carlos Fuentes Memorial Award" for creative short fiction and volunteered with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding homes for stray and surrendered animals. He also began working with the Northstar Youth Ministries Book Club, reading to urban youth in the Birmingham area. During the summer Hayden, as a 2nd degree black belt, teaches self-defense and works as a full-time RA at the Mississippi Governor's School for gifted juniors and seniors in Columbus, MS.
