Dr. Kevin Blackwell is the director of the Ministry Training Institute at Samford University. Dr. Blackwell earned his Bachelor in Biblical Studies here at Samford University. He then continued his studies and earned both a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. After concluding his studies, Dr. Blackwell found his way back to Birmingham as an Adjunct Faculty member with the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary through it's extension in the Magic City. Dr. Blackwell has continually committed himself to service as he spent nine years as the Senior Pastor at Valley Creek Baptist Church in Hueytown. In 2014, with the conclusion of his time as pastor, he became a statewide leader as the President of the Alabama Baptist Pastor's Conference. He continues to be an active member of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions and currently serves as the Interim Pastor at Vaughn Forest Church in Montgomery. Dr. Blackwell has been happily married for 19 years to his wife, Lorrie Partain Blackwell, with whom he shares 4 children.
