Samford’s School of the Arts is hosting "Once Upon a Stage," the Alabama State Thespian Festival, this weekend, Jan. 18-19. The festival is organized by the Alabama Thespian Society, part of the Alabama Educational Theatre Association.

Participating troupes of secondary-level students representing at least 25 Alabama schools will perform in Samford’s celebrated venues, refine their craft and study in expert-led sessions covering every aspect of theatrical performance and production.

Festival participants also will have a chance to audition, interview for scholarships and otherwise interact with representatives of at least nine regional colleges and universities.
